Couch Divers Final Version!
It is here!
5 months ago, we started a journey towards the creation of a fun 4 player couch coop party game. Today, after 5 months of prototyping, devlopment, and polishing, we deliver you our final version of this project. Special thanks goes to all the teachers @DAE Howest who guided us on our journey towards this goal. I'd also like to thank the team for being so cooperative during development, and for being such fun champs to work with. Another thanks goes towards everyone who played our game, or showed their interest.
New Startscreen
We added a new start screen to the game, the players are presented with a sort of menu, where each player can lock in by pressing 'A' on the controller. When a player locks in, an indicator shows as which character he/she will play. When all players are ready, anyone can press start and the loading screen will pop up.
Plane Engine Polish
The Plane Engine obstacle now makes itself clear that it's not messing around, it will make the screen shake the closer it gets, it received a cool animation in the rotor, and it now looks more damaged with a fire particle in the rotor as well. It also makes a loud looping when it passes by, and makes a splatter sound when it kills a player.
Punch Polish
Punching has always been our main mechanic, so we focussed on making it as cool as possible. Now playing sounds for both the swipe and punch, with randomized pitch, and now its actually spammable, which feels more real. They also received their own swipe particle everytime you punch and make the screen shake when it hits someone. The base knockback values have also been brought down a little to compensate for it's power.
Destructible Boxes
The wooden box now has a destrcuted version, which spawns when it is hit by a player.
End Screen
An end screen now shows the winner and gives you the options to restart the game or go back to the menu.
Trailer
The game now has a trailer! Watch it now!
Final Changelist
- Updated cow obstacle to new animated mesh
- Fixed rock to new more stylized mesh and art style to better fit the game
- All obstacles now make sound
- Plane Engine now looks a lot more scary and makes screen shake when getting closer
- Added a swipe effect on the punches
- Final placeholder obstacle updated to leaves
- New start screen where players can lock in
- Health pickup has been replaced with a particle ring
- Cow makes constant sound now
- Wooden boxes are now destructible
- Base Knockback has been lowered
- Pickups now make a sound when they are ready to be picked up
- Off screen tracker only shows if the player is alive and playing
- Players will now make a grunting sound when they are hit
- Fixed bug where grab sometimes would not work
- Grab cooldown removed
- Grab animation will now always play, regardless of wether or not you miss the grab
- Grab strength has been buffed
- Fixed bug where shield would become infinite when activated twice
- Some other minor fixes
- Background music added
